ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the influence of different types of wound dressings on red light transmittance. Methods:A treatment environment for wounds exposed to red light was simulated.Red light transmittance of four types of 19 dressings commonly used in clinic were detected respectively and compared. The transmittance was calculated as the ratio of the intensity of the red light through the dressing to the intensity of the injected red light. Results:The red light transmittance for each dressing was the following: (1)Cotton gauze and pad: 29.4% for one piece of coarse gauze, 10.5% for one cotton pad; (2)Oil dressings: 73.0%~79.1% for light-color oil dressings, 41.7% for dark-color oil dressings-Atrauman ?; (3)Hydrocolloid dressings: 87.8%~90.2%; (4)Foams: 74.7% for light-color ultra-thin foam-Mepilex ? sheet, 0.8% for black-color thicker foam dressings-Mepilex ? Ag dressing, and 20.5%-54.2% for the other foam dressings. Conclusions:The red light transmittance of hydrocolloid dressing, light-colored oil gauze dressing and light-colored ultra-thin foam dressing is higher, with less red light-blocking effect, and the dark-color or thicker dressings had more blocking effect, which showed different therapeutic effect on wound.Gauze and cotton pad have great blocking influence on red light transmittance, and are not suitable for temporary covering of wound during red light treatment.Hence, the effect of wound dressing on red light transmittance should be taken into account when the wound is treated with red light.

ABSTRACT

There are different degrees of bone defect in immediate implantation for anterior dentition. During conventional guided bone regeneration, the wound was difficultly closed in operation, and there was more inflammatory response and infection risk. In this paper,a case of immediate implantation for anterior dentition combined with platelet rich-fibrin(PRF) was reported, the clinical effects of guiding bone regeneration and alleviating the inflammatory response.

ABSTRACT

Implant surface modified coating can improve its osteoinductivity, about which simple calcium phosphate coating has been extensively studied. But it has slow osteointegration speed and poor antibacterial property, while other metal ions added, such as nano zinc ion, can compensate for these deficiencies. This paper describes the incorporation form, the effect on physical and chemical properties of the material and the antibacterial property of nano zinc, and summarizes the material's biological property given by calcium ion, zinc ion and inorganic phosphate (Pi), mainly focusing on the influence of these three inorganic ions on osteoblast proliferation, differentiation, protein synthesis and matrix mineralization in order to present the positive function of zinc doped calcium phosphate in the field of bone formation.

ABSTRACT

To investigate the relationship between the expression of death associated protein kinase (DAPK) gene and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). The expression of DAPK gene in OSCC was detected by semi-quantitive RT-PCR. The results showed that the expression of DAPK gene was down regulated significantly, which may relate to the tumorigenesis and development of OSCC. The detection of DAPK gene may act as an index in OSCC dignosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective; To investigate the stress distribution in implant-bone interface with different pitches by three-dimension finite element analysis method in order to decide the best design of thread parameters for stress distribution. Methods: Built three-dimension finite element models of partial mandible and dental implant with superstructure. The stress distributions in bone and three kinds of implants whose pitches were 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 mm respectively, under axial and oblique 45 degree to axle concentrated load. Data were analyzed by Cosmos/works software. Results; The maximal Von-Mises stress, tensile stress and compressive stress of implant with 0.8 mm pitch were lower than others, the stress distribution was even. The stresses in the same model under oblique load were much higher than those under axial load. The stress concentrated more on implant neck, upper part of cortical bone and the lowest thread on implant. Conclusion; The pitch of implant has effect on stress distribution in implant-bone interface and the transmission of occlusal force. The lower threads on implant should be cut to avoid the concentration of stress, and the non-axial force should be reduced as possible as we can or avoided when we design and make implant denture.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of chrysotile on the activities of some enzymes for xenobiotics metabolism.

METHODSUICC chrysotile (UC) and China Mangya chrysotile (MC) asbestos fibers were used at different doses (0, 25, 50, 100, 200 mg/L) to study its effects on the activities of cytochrome P4501A1 and glutathione S-transferase (GST) in A549 cell line. Also, the effects of chrysotile on the activities of CYP1A1 and GST induced by benzo(a)pyrene were studied.

RESULTSThe activity of EROD increased slowly with the increasing dose of UC, as A549 cells were incubated with UC for 24 h, and EROD activity increased by 40% at a dose of 200 mg/L UC. However, activity of EROD decreased by 32% with 48 h incubation at the same dose, indicating that lower dose of UC and short time could induce the activity of EROD in A549 cells, whereas higher doses and long time could inhibit its activity. MC exhibited a multiphasic effects on the activity of EROD, whether at a dose of 25 mg/L for 24 h or 48 h all gave the strongest induction, 1.86 times or 1.28 times as controls, respectively. However, EROD activity decreased with the increases in MC doses and incubation time, with the lowest as 35% of the controls. The effect of UC on GST activity was not so obvious, with the highest as the increase in its activity by 20%. The highest induction of MC to GST activity was at a dose of 25 mg/L, 2, 5 times as that in controls. With the increases in its doses, effects of MC on GTS activity became inhibition from induction, like that on EROD activity. MC at a dose of 200 mg/L could lower the activity of GST by 18.7%. A549 cells were incubated with chrysotile fiber for 24 h firstly, and then incubated with benzo(a)pyrene to induce the activities of EROD and GST. The results showed that neither UC nor MC could affect the activity of EROD induced by benzo(a)pyrene. However, UC at a dose of 200 mg/L and MC at 100 mg/L could increase the activity of GST induced by benzo(a)pyrene.

CONCLUSIONChrysotile at different doses or its different types showed varied effects on the activities of EROD and GST in A549 cell lines, probably because of different physicochemical characteristics and surface activity of two kinds of asbestos.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the relationship between apoptotic protease activating factor 1(APAF1) gene and oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods:The mRNA expression of APAF1 gene were detected with semiquantitative RT-PCR method in 18 cases of normal oral mucous membrane and 32 cases of OSCC tissues. Results:The expression of APAF1 gene was significantly decreased in OSCC tissues comparing with the normal oral mucous membrane(P
